Obtaining a free home page
To get your own roost you must meet certain criteria.
It is strictly intended for those who have made a contribution
of a program, good documentation or other usefull contribution such as an up
to date and accurate list of links, news source etc.
Linux User Groups are also qualified for a free account.
For those of you who want to host your software project, Linuxlots now uses Perforce software CM
system. This is a great tool for maintaining source code and tracking changes to it. To learn mosre about

To qualify, you must agree to the Terms and Conditions listed below.
If you feal you qualify, send an email stating your name, your contribution's name and
reasonable description of it and a url of it's existing home it it has one
to me at joe@croftj.net. I'll get back in touch
with you to work out any further details.
Here's the offer:
- Access tothe Linuxlots Perforce sourcecode repository
- 25 MB of disk space
- Full CGI including Perl and PHP
- Shell Account
- Optional mailing lists (using SmartList)
- Access to a Postgres database
- Your own domain name if desired (You pay any internic costs)
Terms and Conditions for a free account
- Your contribution must be actively maintained.
- If your contribution is a program it must be licensed with either a GPL or
a Berkeley-like license. Otherwise, in the case of news, documentation or
lists of links, the content must be freely available to copy and distribute.
- To keep your page online, you must actively maintain it. Sadly, it seems
that all to often free things tend to be set up with enthusiasm but then are
forgotten. Since resources available on the server are finite, this cannot be
allowed to happen.
- Because this service is being provided free of charge, no warranty is
extended in any way. I am not responsible for any data loss! It's
your data, and you alone are responsible for it.
- CroftJ Internet Services reserves the right to discontinue
this offering at anytime.
- As much as I would like to offer Page Authoring services for free, I
cannot do so. It's up to you to create and maintain your page. Unless of
course you want to pay me to do it for you!
- CroftJ Internet Services reserves the right to refuse or
deny service to anyone that does not, in my opinion, meet or follow the above
rules, or if resources to host further pages are unavailable (including but
not limited to disk space, memory and bandwidth). In other words, it's MY
server and, therefore, my call!
- CroftJ Internet Service shall not be held responsible for
losses to due to data loss. The ultimate responsibility of the integrity of
the data resides on the YOU, the client.
- CroftJ Internet Service shall not be held responsible for
losses due to down-time on the system. Every effort will be made to keep the
service up and running.
- CroftJ Internet Service reserves the right to refuse
service to anyone for any reason.
- CroftJ Internet Service reserves the right to
discontinue service under the following conditions:
- If the manner of use of the services can be construed as a violation of
any law, are obscene, defamatory, fraudulent or deceptive. This includes
game content!.
- For Mass mailings, SPAM and other anti-social activities that harass others
and / or eat away the available bandwidth.
- If any provisions of this Policy are not met.
